Options and Settings: Tuning the Cauldron

The Witch has several personal preferences regarding how she handles files and displays her magic. The Options menu allows you to adjust these behaviors to suit your workflow.

The Omen: File Validation

The Witch can be configured to spot minor formatting violations that might cause trouble for legacy DOS programs. Under the Encoding tab, you can set her strictness:

• Require Trailing Newline: When enabled, files missing a final blank line appear with a Yellow icon. Selecting the file allows the Witch to "fix" it instantly.
• Line Ending Policies: While the Witch currently preserves original line endings, future versions will allow you to enforce specific types (like CRLF) across all exports.

Session and Discovery

The Session settings control how the Witch remembers your work and how she scries new files:

• Memory: You can choose to have the Witch automatically reopen your previous files or exported results upon her return.
• Detection: Toggle whether the Witch should prioritize the file extension (like .de or .tr) when guessing the correct locale.

The Dual Mirrors: Viewer Preferences

Through the Viewer tab, you can adjust the visual clarity of the cauldron's mirrors. This includes scaling the font size independently for the Unicode and DOS viewers to ensure maximum readability on high-resolution displays.

Automated Scrying

The General settings house the Witch's basic upkeep, such as toggling the Automatic Update check to ensure you are always using her most recent descendants.
